The Government is dedicated to assisting the most vulnerable members of society through various targeted programmes and initiatives.
In an effort to provide targeted relief to those in need, the Government is reinstating the RISE Programme. This program is designed to give direct cash transfers using a pre-paid debit card to those most in need.
Recognizing the hardship placed on Bahamian homes as a result of the magnitude and duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government has extended the Unemployment Assistance Benefit programme to December 2021 and pledged to provide additional aid in the amount of a one-time $500 lump sum payment at Christmas. This lump sum payment is meant to alleviate some strain during the upcoming holiday season.
