The Ministry of Education is the principal vehicle for promoting the development of individuals and the nation as a whole. All persons in The Bahamas have access to receive a quality education that will equip them with the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills required for life as productive citizens.
A seventh assessment exercise will take place to facilitate the engagement of lead assessors and materials required to begin the assessment process. Funding required is $136, 200.00
Assessments are complete and appropriate recommendations for the advancement of suitably qualified officers will commence in the 2021/2022 budget year.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee was appointed to consider the regularization of these persons and a process is now underway.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) will hire persons who will be posted in MOE schools throughout the country. These workers will support school safety measures such as: conducting temperature checks, ensuring students are masked, maintaining social distancing protocols etc., allowing administrators and security officers to do their respective jobs. They will also be required to fill HR deficits on the various campuses where they are posted.
The Government is committed to ensuring that young people are hired and trained to replace the professional staff, which the Department lost as a result of mandatory retirement.
To ensure Bahamian content is accessible and preserved, a robust digitization project will take place in two phases:
Phase one will focus on the digitization of Bahamian books and local newspaper articles and indigenous materials.
Phase two would be centred on fiction and non- fiction collections in libraries and information centres.
